i have old linux version (0.12.4) of pdftotext runs without problems, run on windows 7 machine.

i downloaded windows installer appears latest version, xpdf-2.03-bin.exe http://gnuwin32.sourceforge.net/packages/xpdf.htm.

i accepted installer defaults. when ran windows 7 pdftotext on pdf file linux version handled correctly, got next series of error messages:

- error <0>: pdf file damaged - attempting reconstruct xref table ... - error: couldnt find trailer dictionary - list item error: couldnt read xref table

i did web search on these error messages, none of issues found associated these errors seemed related problem im having.

has encountered problem pdftotext on windows 7 or know how resolve it?

you seem using 2 different beasts, both containing utility named pdftotext:

version 0.12.4 poppler-based version of pdftotext, released in feb 2010. beingness 5 years old now, rather outdated today. poppler fork  from original code base of operations of xpdf, happened in 2005. since fork happened, has been developed faster "mother" code, , has acquired many more additional + useful features. hard find pre-compiled binaries windows, though. latest release 0.30.0 (jan 2015).

version 2.03 xpdf-based version of pdftotext, released in oct 2003. beingness more 11 years old now, ancient. xpdf original software provide pdftotext utility. released first time in 1995. still developed, albeit more poppler fork is. recent release version 3.04 (may 2014) , can downloaded here. attending -- may of major involvement you: release contains new text extractor!
